About Us

Gale Force, an OrbitMI company, delivers advanced voyage optimisation, vessel performance, and compliance solutions that help clients operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

By combining meteorological and oceanographic expertise with data-driven insights, we support operational decision-making across global shipping operations. In this role, you will work at the intersection of meteorology, oceanography, data analysis, and commercial shipping.

We are a collaborative and curious team that values innovation, openness, and continuous improvement. Here, your ideas matter—you will have the opportunity to shape both your role and the services we provide.

Key Responsibilities

As a Weather & Route Optimisation Specialist, you will:

  • Analyse meteorological and oceanographic conditions to provide operational voyage optimisation and weather routing support for vessels worldwide, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible navigation
  • Conduct post-voyage analyses to assess vessel performance, weather impact, fuel efficiency, and operational deviations, including preparation of reports for operational, legal, or claims-related purposes when required
  • Monitor vessel movements and weather developments outside active routing services and respond proactively in accordance with internal operational procedures
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve routing methodologies, operational processes, algorithms, and data quality
  • Contribute to the continuous development of our services, analytical capabilities, and operational excellence

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with strong analytical capabilities, curiosity, and a genuine interest in applying meteorological or oceanographic expertise in a practical operational environment.

You likely have:

  • A degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, or a related field
  • Experience interpreting meteorological and oceanographic data in an operational environment, which is considered an advantage
  • A strong interest in data analysis, pattern recognition, and performance optimisation
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to ask questions, solve problems, and take initiative
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Interest in the shipping industry is considered a plus, but not required. What matters most is your curiosity, drive, and commitment to high-quality work.

What We Offer

  • Direct exposure to the global shipping industry, with a focus on safety, fuel efficiency, and emissions reduction
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment where your contributions are valued
  • Opportunities to influence and improve services at the intersection of technology, data, and sustainability
  • A role with real operational impact on global maritime operations
  • Opportunities for professional growth within an innovative and international company

Interested in Joining Us?

If you are passionate about meteorology or oceanography and want to apply your expertise in a real-world, high-impact industry, we would love to hear from you.
